You know that thing, that global thing, that stopped everyone travelling? No, not the virtually unpronounceable volcano in Iceland… which, incidentally, caused the largest air-traffic shutdown since WW2. At the time, obviously. In 2010.
But this is 2020 (yes, still) and we all know what I’m talking about. So let’s move on.
Well, although there were brief windows of international travel possibilities, we chose to stay close to home to be a little safer. And I have to say, we discovered some gorgeous areas, often within a very short walk of our own front door, allowing us to be back in time for tea!
Firstly, apologies. It’s incredibly rude to have been away a while and then come back to promote a little business venture but I’ve been semi- productive during lockdown and now have a new page!
After thinking about it for a while and bolstered by the feedback of at least three people, I’ve decided to offer some of my photo art for sale.
Taking some tentative steps into this marketing malarkey, I’ve set up a new page on Facebook: Aloada Bobbins’ Creative Design where you can purchase greeting cards and (eventually) larger Giclée prints.
Here’s a preview of what to expect – some images you may even recognise!
So, if you’re on Facebook or know someone who might be in need of something to brighten up a wall space, then please pop along, take a look and spread the word!
You can follow along by clicking HERE.
(If you’re outside the UK but are still interested in purchasing something, just drop me a message and I can let you know about postage options.)

Had a bit of a camera clear out…
In an event to continue the legacy of Hull’s City of Culture status, Urban Legends: Northern Lights (back in December 2018) had various illuminated installations around the city centre. Some told tales that brought giant, fantastical creatures to life on the walls of our museums. Others carpeted pedestrian areas in an ever-changing kaleidoscope of asymmetric patterns, or lit our landmarks in an array of bright colours.
Then there were a few that were just plain…odd. Like the talking mermaid and the ice queen propped up in shop windows and looking like bad fairground freak-show attractions. But you can’t win them all! Fortunately, I was too short to get close enough to them, so you’re saved from the disturbing images!
Never mind reaching for the feather duster to clear away the cobwebs, it’s more likely that I need to bust out some WD40 to crank up the internal gears of the keyboard.
It’s been a while! Over four months, apparently (WordPress helpfully pointed out my lack of writing achievement a few days ago. But at the time, consuming mince pies was more of a priority).
And I can’t say I have much of an excuse for my absence, except an acute case of ‘Couldnotbebothereditis‘. It’s fair to say I’ve experienced one of my most intense terms at school since qualifying, which has left me drained at times. However, I’ve still managed to do other things, just that picking up the lappy hasn’t floated my boat.
So, I thought I would do a quick round-up of what I’ve been up to since August – because I suspect you’re all falling over yourselves to know… 😉 Also commonly known as ‘shoehorning a post in before the end of the year‘!
The last stretch in this gargantuan, never-let-me-do-it-again, failed A-Z challenge! If you didn’t read yesterday’s post, you’ll not be aware that I’ve squashed most of the second half of the alphabet into two posts. Because I can. And also because I was really bad at a daily blog!
Shall we move on?
