Entering the Twenties: Hear us Roar!

Well hello blog world! Been a fair few months, I know, but as a self-proclaimed faddist, what did you expect?!

As the first day of a new year, indeed a new decade, draws to an end, I thought I should make some kind of contribution to my little area of the internet. And the other half is watching football, so it gives me something to do.

So, Merry New Year and all that jazz! We are still only hours into the start of 2020 and another decade – unless you’re in the Team 1 camp, then you’ve got another 364 days to make a meaningful mark before the next stretch begins!

100 years ago, the western world saw the birth of what would be known as the Roaring Twenties, when many prospered as others became disillusioned with the world, celebrity and wealth were favoured, every major country seemed to become anti-immigration and (thankfully) women started standing up for themselves.

Sounds a little like the last ten years…

Because, let’s be honest, overall the planet has really let itself go in recent times. And when I say the planet, I obviously mean we’ve done a right number on it.

The Shoehorn Review

Never mind reaching for the feather duster to clear away the cobwebs, it’s more likely that I need to bust out some WD40 to crank up the internal gears of the keyboard.

It’s been a while! Over four months, apparently (WordPress helpfully pointed out my lack of writing achievement a few days ago. But at the time, consuming mince pies was more of a priority).

And I can’t say I have much of an excuse for my absence, except an acute case of ‘Couldnotbebothereditis‘. It’s fair to say I’ve experienced one of my most intense terms at school since qualifying, which has left me drained at times. However, I’ve still managed to do other things, just that picking up the lappy hasn’t floated my boat.

So, I thought I would do a quick round-up of what I’ve been up to since August – because I suspect you’re all falling over yourselves to know… 😉 Also commonly known as ‘shoehorning a post in before the end of the year‘!

Have a FADTASTIC 2018

It’s the start of a new year and we are awash with adverts and articles tempting you to jet off to foreign shores, encouraging you get out and find the new you…but not before you sign over your life savings for a subscription to the local gym which you’ll avoid like the Plague after the first week!

As we’re on day three of January, I’m a little late with jumping on this self-improvement bandwagon, but I’m jumping nonetheless. Now, I’m perfectly aware I have a bit of a reputation – consistency is not my strong point and in the past, the only success I’ve had with my resolutions has been the ability to pronounce the word with my short-tongue!

So I don’t make them. As such…

Do you remember my Bucket List post of 2016? Well, two years on from my ‘oh-my-I-get-old-this-year‘ wish list and I can say I have ticked two items off the list: visiting Iceland  and publishing a book.

Wednesday Lensday: New Year, New (Ca)ME(ra)

I took my new little Sony CyberShot out for a walk along the beach, just after Christmas, so that I could get a first feel for it.

Have to say, I do enjoy having an actual zooming lens back despite so far only really using it on auto settings. The camera has plenty of functions I can play around with over the next few weeks though – just have to not fall back into lazy ways!

Tiny Tales and (very) Short Stories 5: Accomplishment

Here’s my first post of 2016!

That sentence (which was six words long!) and the title should tell you what it’s all about. Yes, it’s another edition of teeny, tiny tales, inspired by Nicola’s challenge over at Sometimes Stellar Storyteller.

Although I’ve been participating in her prompts most weeks (and securing medal positions on some occasions!), I realised I hadn’t devoted a post to my entries since Halloween. However, this week’s theme of ACCOMPLISHMENT gave me a few ideas so here they are!
