Fad number 87: Blogging!

I’ve actually ventured along this route sometime in the not too distant past, when I was full of angst (I was a looong way past being a teenager however!) and wanted to vent. But like the little volcano I am, I erupted, dissipated, got lazy and got about as far as writing this, the ‘about’ section.

So here I am again and if you haven’t quite figured it out, I’m a serial faddist (is that even a word? Let’s make it a word if it’s not!) Along with teaching (my actual job), I have embarked on sooo many different hobbies, (some lasting a day, a week, some revisited over time) that I’ve developed a reputation for ‘having fads’. And they’re all consuming, must have / do situations that I’m forever confident will turn into a lifelong love and passion, only to be replaced by the next new, more interesting activity that catches my attention. Perhaps I have magpie blood in my veins…

This attempt WILL last longer than a week, but I can’t promise it will still be going in a month. I’ll likely have forgotten my password by then anyway 😉  I’m here to write about anything that interests or irks me and share it with the world. Please note, I’ll never be an expert at anything, because quite clearly I lack the dedication, so any notice you take of anything I say is at your own risk!

Welcome to Aloada Bobbins, where you’ll find my face full o’ fads! I do hope you enjoy it 🙂

Much love,

Haylee x

UPDATE: What’s so special about 6th June 2016? Well, I’ve only gone and made it to a whole year, haven’t I?! And to celebrate, I made my very first VLOG! So if you want to know more about the Bobbins, click the link and have a gander!

As for the blog, has there been a post in the last week? There has? Good, then I’m obviously still on it like a car bonnet! 😉

      2. Followed back! You’ll have to get involved in the blogging hashtag share parties, like #SundayBlogShare or #MondayBlogs. Great way to meet new bloggers! 🙂

      3. Hmm. I felt its so random 😀 Some rad people follow me and till now I have not found anyone who followed my blog through twitter 😛 I just started 2 months back that is there too 😀 And maybe I don tweet as much as I should like the gurus say 😀 The social media pressure is too much don’t you feel ? I don promote my blog through FB much. And I don even have an Instagram account 😛 Pressed for time. But I really want to get an Instagram account 😀 Ahh, so much to do :\

      4. I only actively use Twitter (and a personal Facebook account sporadically). I have a Facebook page for the blog but it uploads automatically so don’t do anything else with it. I started Pinterest (never had Instagram) but there are far too many other ways I lose hours in a day so one social outlet will do for me!

      5. So well-said Haylee 😀 The social outlets take away so much of our time :\ But I am so enamoured by the concept of Instagram (I am quite photo enthusiastic you see 😛 ) and I want to join it. But I have been procrastinating it, dunno for good or bad 🙂 Some day soon!

  1. The Valar Baekaaris post brought me to your blog and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed most of your posts 🙂 Clearly you have proved that this is not a fad and you are writing your way to awesomeness ❤ Congrats on that 🙂 Glad to jump into your followers bandwagon and welcoming you to visit my little corner of the blogosphere as well 🙂 Cheers and warmest wishes, Minaxi ❤

    1. Thanks for the kind words of encouragement (and for following!) Following back – I see you’re fairly new to the blogosphere, so welcome! I’ll be back to read your posts properly, looking forward to hearing your views on Belgium – we visited Bruges a couple of years ago and thought it was marvellous!

      1. Yes! 3 months old newbie 😀 Oh you had been to Bruges ? Wow. I have heard its an awesome place with pictureque canals and so romantic 🙂 We could cover only Brussels this time. Europe is so amazing, that no time is good enough to cover the entire awesomeness. Unless you are staying there 😉 I would love for you to have a longer stay at my blog and hope you enjoy my scribblings 🙂

      2. I have enjoyed your scribblings and look forward to more – and hopefully being able to load your Brussels adventure! Bruges is beautiful – we’re very fortunate to be in a part of the U.K. that allows us to hop on an overnight ferry to Belgium. We’d love to go back in summer as it was January when we went and it was so, so cold! Still didn’t stop us having a great time though. The streets are so quaint, plus, if you like beer and chocolate it’s the place to be!

      3. You are indeed so lucky to have settled in the U.K. 😀 I am always jealous of people who get to live in Europe 😛 And you said it right, its the place to be for chocolates, beer aaand not to forget their yummylicious waffles and frites 😀

  2. Haylee– I just made your banana bread, but I cannot find the post. I want to tell everyone how fantastic it is, and my own modifications. Instead of half a cup total of additions, I did half cup of chocolate chips, half cup of currants, and half cup of walnuts. Mine was overkill, but tastes delicious. I have never used coconut oil or honey in B.B. and loved the subtle change in flavor. Let me know which post it was. I looked in food, but could not find it. Keep cooking!!! Carol

    1. So pleased it’s turned out well Carol! I bet it tastes lovely with walnuts – if it wasn’t for Sam’s allergy I’d be adding those too! The post should be under food, but within ‘cakes and treats’. I’ve probably tagged it wrong. Let me know if you still can’t find it and I’ll have a look when I’m at my laptop 🙂

  3. Good morning my little Haylee. I’m nominating you for the Room 101 Award. I’ll be writing a post with the rules and stuff later. I’m procrastinating but I’m dying to see what things you would banish to Room 101! Hugs. Cathe

  4. I just read your “about”, and my reaction was, who is this person, she seems to be talking about myself!!! Can she be a younger me? I am a retired teacher, and my entire life I have gone through so many fads, from sumi ink drawing to perfecting pies. I really like your style, your writing, your photos.

    1. Thank you so much, what lovely comments! I wonder if it has something to do with being a teacher, the fad thing? Several other bloggers I know were once teachers and they have very varied interests. Perhaps that’s what appeals about the job – no two days every being the same. 🙂

    1. Hi, thanks for stopping by! I’ve just had a look and followed 🙂 You have some interesting posts and we have something in common with the sign language – I studied it when I used to be a nanny and nursery nurse. Always a good skill to have!

Wow really? That is so great! I was taking online free courses with Bill Vicars Life prints and now I am taking online courses with SigningOnline and then applied for a scholarship with Gallaudet University :)) It is a great skill to have and hope it helps many!
