To ‘Finity Bond!’

To ‘Finity Bond!’

Back in the day, when I was starting out in childcare, I was a nanny for three boys all under the age of five. At the time, Elsa was but an imagined icicle and the closest we had to Minions were the insides of Kinder Surprise eggs!

Instead, the animated heroes for the two oldest boys were a cowboy and an astronaut, with the middle child frequently leaping off sofas to the cries of ‘Finity Bond!’

So as we head light-speed towards the end of the year, what’s in store for 2016 and ‘finity bond’ for Aloada Bobbins? Well, I’ve consulted the crystals, sloshed around some tea leaves and shuffled the decks and they all point to one thing: Nobody knows!

My little break over Christmas has told me that whilst having a schedule was beneficial in organising my thoughts, it was equally as restricting. Not feeling like I HAD to post has been great, plus I don’t want to run out of things to say (unlikely with how much I babble, but…!)

So for 2016, I’ve decided that if I post a recipe or about photography, they will still go out on their respective days (Monday Munchies / Wednesday Lensday) with the weekend being left for more random posts. However, I may not post all three every week. Then again I might.

I’m all ready with my super-cute planner for the blogging year ahead!

But what would you, as my wonderful readers, like to see more of on the Bobbins? Guest posts? Reviews? A vlog?

Maybe you already like the format and just want more of the same but as much as I value and appreciate  your interactions 😀 ❤ I also value your opinions. So any suggestions are welcome!

The end of the year seems to signify an obligatory ‘best of’ line-up (yes I know I’ve only been blogging for 6 months) so I was happy to see on other blogs that WordPress had helpfully collated all figures into an infographic to post.

Well, let’s just say that when I received my email, I was less than impressed. It was naff – in fact it was nearly as boring (and impersonal) as the Facebook ‘Year in Review‘ which seemed to indicate the only things I’m interested in are Game of Thrones, cake and afternoon tea.

Okay, okay, Facebook knows me pretty well…

It shows your top five posts based on views but that doesn’t mean likes and as far as I’m concerned, likes and comments are much more important to show whether a post is popular. As I’ve said before, statistics are like a bikini…

Thanks a bunch you guys! (And I’m following all of you, despite what WordPress says!)

Weirdly, my most viewed post is also one of those with the least likes (I don’t think it’s that bad!) So, I’m flipping the review on its head with the underdogs: here are a few that time (and the blogosphere) forgot!

My FIRST EVER post!

That just leaves me to wish each and every one of you a fabulous New Year’s Eve and massive thanks to everyone (readers, followers, commenters, bloggy lovely friends!) who has helped kick start my blogging journey in a myriad of ways!

See you next year folks after I’ve chased the fireworks around the globe. Here’s to a healthy and happy 2016 and to learning to be thankful for what we have.

To FINITY BOND!

  1. Wow…. stalker #2. Ha ha. Maybe I need a life…..
Love the blog. No need to change but as I’m doing some revamping myself….I get the desire to do just that. Either way…I will obviously be stopping by!

    1. Voted! Your comment ended up in spam queue for some reason sorry, or I would have voted before. You can maybe return the favour and vote on my six word story (my newest post!) 🙂

  2. I’m glad I recently found your site. You offer a strange brew with a pleasant aftertaste 😉 I say scheduling is bad, mkay. This format is perfect for open inspiration. Write about whatever excites you that day. You may be surprised how many others enjoy the same random bits n bob(bin)s

    1. Haha, I’m glad you enjoy the random concoction! And likewise, pleased I was introduced to your site too 😊
I scheduled for the first 5 months (didn’t have a clue where I was going in month one!) so maybe it is time to loosen things up a bit. Don’t ever want it to feel like a chore.

    1. I quite fancy the idea but I reckon I’d be so see conscious in front of the camera. Plus, in my head I’m well spoken and sound incredibly cool. In reality, I think I most likely sound like a northern docker, bringing the fishing trawlers in!

      1. Haha, give it a go. I was a bit like that at first but the more the weeks went on the more it gets easier. They are still on YouTube if you get a chance to look

      2. Random? I’ll have you know they were very specific music reviews, for my music blog reviewing music with music in the background lol granted, the stuff I was saying was very random at times. I seem to recall speaking to a picture of Jesus in one of them hahah

      3. Ha, amazing! I was basing my opinion on your poor little Blair Witch bridge video earlier! But I enjoy how many times you used the word ‘music’ in your last comment!

      1. Ha! Turns out I’m just lacking the motivation on this one. 🙈 I climbed some amazing Roman burial mounds though which is worth far more than numerous slightly naff caches surely. It does mean however I can never look at my stats page ever again. 😉

      2. Sounds awesome, so I’ll let you off! Wish we’d been able to get out adventuring today – think we’d be likely to slide down a hillside in a mud rush with all the water being thrown at us. Still better off than most up here so shouldn’t complain.

    1. I think ‘when I feel like it’ is the best option, as long as I set a condition for at least once a week – I’d soon get lazy.

Same to you and yours – hope the New Year brings loveliness for everyone!

    1. And to you Michelle! Thank you, seems many of you enjoy how it’s already going (I guess you wouldn’t read it otherwise!) but I do want to make sure I keep things fresh.
Nannying was HARD! I was only 17 when I started, so three boys were quite a handful! I hope I was fun, definitely no Mary Poppins though!

  3. Please remind me of the rest of the bikini line. Personally I enjoy your wit and humorous tone, I suggest you continue same and let loose exaggeration when doing those tongue in cheek comments on life. Write on !

    1. Oh I think it’s such a good quote – given to me by an old teacher of mine:
Statistics are like a bikini. What they show is interesting but all the important stuff is covered up!

Thanks for your comments – I’m sure most of my family think I’m the least funny person on the planet (unless it’s at my clumsy expense!) so it’s always nice to know people enjoy my attempts at humour!
