Hi everyone! So we’ve returned from our little trundle around Ireland – alas, no Jon Snows were captured 😦 However, it was a nice little trip away and there will be future posts about our adventures once I’ve organised the truck load of photos I took!
Now though, it’s back to life, reality and the grim realisation there’s only one week left of summer holidays – it’s as if the extra week we were graced with this year somehow sped time up more than normal (although I’m sure all school workers believe in this time bending magic, whilst parents feel the world has slowed to a lethargic crawl!)
Since returning, I’ve been busy and created a little Facebook page for the blog, mainly because friends were asking for links and this seemed the best solution, whilst still keeping my personal Facebook private. You can like the page by visiting here – as always it’ll be super to have you on board. 🙂
The day we left for our travels I was also nominated for not one, but two awards! I’m incredibly flattered to have been considered for these, so firstly let me say a huge thank you to Megan from The MomHood for my Liebster Award – please stop by her site, it’s full of lovely photos and inspirational quotes. Plus, she’s been kind enough to participate in my Rainbowfication challenge! Also, massive thanks for my Versatile Blogger Award from Beauty by Elyse – if you want some great beauty tips then her site has loads to offer…or just go check out her amazing eyelashes (only slightly jealous honest…!)
Awards are fabulous for promoting bloggers and who doesn’t like receiving praise? I also understand though that many find them a little time consuming or don’t enjoy the ‘chain blog’ nature of them. Therefore, I’ve decided to cheat / break the rules a little for my responses. Firstly, I’ve chosen a selection of my favourite questions from each lovely lady to answer. Secondly, I’m not so much nominating as drawing your attention to some awesome blogs. Each person I’ve chosen I enjoy reading on a regular basis – if any of them would like participate in either (or both!) award, then super, but I understand they may also have already been nominated and won’t want to repeat it. Please check them out though and show them some love. 🙂
I hope this decision doesn’t offend anyone, as I am eternally grateful for (and baffled by!) the huge amount of positivity I’ve received since starting the blog, but I think the most important thing is to keep supporting each other within the community, so hopefully that’s what I’m doing!
Let’s get on with those super blogger links shall we?
My first ever follower and Games of Thrones guru – love reading Patrick’s thoughts and ideas on the series. 🙂
Danny of Dream Big, Dream Often has undoubtedly been the biggest factor in me growing a readership (thank you!). He tirelessly reblogs others to promote them, but also has loads of very interesting articles of his own. The link is to his current Meet and Greet (get involved!), but be sure to check the rest out too!
Catherine from Atypical 60 is just hliarious, extremely candid about everything and is not afraid to show her true self to the world. Love it!
Amanda seems as mad as a box of frogs, which is brilliant! If nothing else, watch her first attempts at a vlog and check out the inside of her life. I loved it!
Miss Caly – full of craft ideas and free printables. She’s so creative! Go read her About page and then tell me the youth of today don’t know how to be constructive.
Some lovely cakey treats at Love The Little Bakery and whilst Hannah is amazing at what she does, she’s not afraid to talk about her cooking failures too, which I like.
Jasmine from The Richmond Avenue has a stunning foodie blog. All her recipes looks delish. Nom, nom, nom!
Lisa from Into the Glade! is always so positive, it’s a pleasure to read about her life. She also tagged me in the If I could… challenge, she obviously knew I liked to daydream! (I will get round to it, promise.)
Clare from Mud and Nettles is a fellow geocacher, albeit a pro (unlike myself!) I enjoy reading about her family adventures, so much that I’ve nominated her before!
Ordinary Adventures is a gorgeous lifestyle blog that shows the hard work Brey has put into it. She’s beginning a new chapter of her life now and taking her blog along for the ride!
I hope you’ll have a look at each blog if they’re new to you and support them (and bloggers, you’re worthy of the awards but I totally get it if you decline to accept!)
And now for the responses to each nomination…
My 3 favourite questions…
What 3 places have you been that you thought you would never go?
Egypt, a strip club and behind the scenes of The Muppet Show!
If you could be anyone, past or present, who would they be?
I’m not sure I’d like to be anyone but me, although I’d love to spend a day in the life of Audrey Hepburn – a day when she was trying on all Givenchy’s new designs!
If you could have picked your name, what would it be?
I like my name (and the spelling, chosen so I could shorten it to Lee in case I didn’t like it / wanted to identify as a boy). However, if I had a stage name, it would be Lucia DeHavilland. She’d strut around in exotic clothes and host elaborate parties that she’d leave in the middle of to jet off on an adventure. I’ve clearly thought about this too much…
This calls for 7 random facts about myself, but I think most of you will have read about my randomness in my Banana Cray Cray post! But here’s 3 more…
I’ve met and had a massive hug from ‘The Greatest’ – Muhammad Ali.
I once had to dance on national television to advertise a Sea Shanty festival.
I can roll my tongue into three sections, which apparently only a fraction of the population can do and makes me a veritable genius. Because we all know that’s the best way to measure intelligence…
I hope you enjoyed the responses and thanks again for the nominations. My only question to my ‘featured bloggers’ (nominees!) and anyone else who would like to answer is:
If another blog / company disputed your claim to your blog name would you fight back or change it? And what would you change it to?
