The Rainbowfication Chronicles: ORANGE

It’s the second installment of my personal photo challenge (to focus on a single colour of the rainbow each week) and as we’re tackling the rainbow in order (Richard Of York…etc), then today I give you orange.

If RED is the bold, daring, dominant force in the spectrum then orange is its quieter, more allusive cousin that still has a sting in its tail when rattled! I’ve found this week much more of a challenge: red is everywhere, a popular colour present in all manner of natural and man-made objects. But although orange has been making itself known by catching my eye every now and again as I’ve been out and about, it doesn’t like to draw attention to itself.

Of course, there are aspects of orange that take inspiration from the brashness of red – the psychedelic shades in high visibility jackets, the vibrant pixels found in digital displays and the unpredictable flashes of fire. But there’s much more to orange than an ‘in your face’ attention seeker. From the delicate peaches to the beautiful burnt autumnal auburns that scream warmth and richness, orange deserves to be appreciated!

Remember, I’d love for you to take part in this challenge too, so if you have your own images of orange (or any other colour) that you wish to share, pop a link / pingback to your blog in the comments. As always, thanks for looking!

Image Credits: All my own, so please be sweet and ask before sharing 🙂

  1. Love your pics. You’ve done well. Yes orange is a bit of a struggle. I’ve been looking out for orange things all week but need to actually take photo’s. Your pics just reminded me – carrots, they’ve been staring me in the face a couple of times and I never noticed – bet we’ve eaten them all now.

    1. P.S. I meant to ask – what’s that curly thing in the bottom right corner, is it a toast rack? Lovely colour whatever it is.
